Meet CPA's Team

During 2021, Challenge Preparatory Academy's Board announced the appointment of Dr. Mayreather Willis as the school's leader, serving as the Principal. She has worked in rural, urban, and suburban school districts. In Georgia as a Director of Response To Intervention, Instructional English Language Arts and Math Coach, and Alternative School Curriculum Coordinator, as well as a middle and high school teacher.  At the federal level for Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) an Assistant Principal in Bavaria, Germany, 4-12 Grades English Language Arts Instructional System Specialist for NY/VA/PR, and Professional Learning Instructional Specialist for GA/AL School District. She is looking forward to leading Challenge Preparatory Academy towards its mission and vision.  During 2022, Dr. Willis has been recognized by 4-H as a Richmond County "Teacher of the Year", and featured as a Augusta Leading Woman in City Lifestyle Augusta Magazine. She has been recognized as Air & Space Forces Association (AFA) Savannah Chapter STEM Teacher of the Year, as well as Air & Space Forces Association 2023 Georgia State STEM Teacher of the Year. Dr. Willis is the 2024 Augusta Branch NAACP Innovation in Education Recipient.

Prior to her 20 years in education Dr. Willis proudly served for 8 years in the Army. She has two adult children, Asha & Elijah, and she is an immensely proud mom.

I have been an educator since 2000. I believe in maintaining

positive mindset, creating partnerships with a purpose, and

always striving for significant outcomes. I am a task master, a closer.

When you work with me, you should expect a collaborative

"All In Team" approach and  transparency & consistency.

My motto is "Lead by Example, while encouraging others

to strive for excellence. I genuinely  believe that education 

is life changing for students, which is why what we

do and don't do matters."

  1. Part-time STEAM Teacher, 5 days a week, 20 hours per week, 12-4 pm,

  2. Part-time Afterschool Tutor, Mon-Thu, 8 hours per week, 3:30 - 5:30

  3. Part-time Administrative Assistant, Mon, Wed, Fri, 15 hours per week, 7:30 - 12:30

  4. Read 180 Teacher (Reading Interventionist), Tue - Fri. 8 hours per week, 1:30-3:30

  5. CPA Public Relations Liaison, Part-time salary dependent upon experience and number of hours per week.

We  offer Read 180 as our Response To Intervention HIPE Up Reading Program, to students that struggle with reading that are 2-3 grade levels behind, dyslexic and ESOL
