Career Academies
Purpose for CPA's career academies is to ensure that our students experience learning in career fields as a part of their daily education, which prepares them for college and their career choices. Our Cybersecurity & Programming, The Arts: Film Making, and Animation academies are small learning communities, has curriculum with a career theme and instruction is delivered by educators, professionals in their field, and includes exploration excursions to ensure students are having real world experiences.
Cybersecurity & Programming Academy
During Cyber Literacy Connection Classes (CLiC) CPA students learn about Computer Science (CS) in response to the growing use of computing devices and their impact on every aspect of society. Students Learn about computers and algorithmic processes, including their principles, their hardware and software designs, their implementation, and their impact on society. As part of the class students are required to produce original work, do community based presentations, and participate in competitions.

The Arts: Film Making
Academy

The course covers technical and expressive considerations of production, such as equipment, lighting, costumes, setting, props, and script. It provides opportunities to participate in each phase of production, stressing analysis of film and video production based on historical and critical analysis. As part of the class students are required to produce original work, do community based presentations, and participate in competitions.

Advanced Animation Academy
Where Technology Meets Storytelling
Challenge Preparatory Academy’s Advanced Animation Academy provides students with an innovative pathway connecting the technical skills of our Cybersecurity & Programming Academy with the creative production skills of The Arts: Film Making Academy.
The purpose of the Advanced Animation Academy is to introduce students to the art, technology, and process of bringing ideas to life through movement. Students explore how artists, filmmakers, designers, and technology professionals use animation to communicate ideas, develop characters, tell stories, solve problems, and create digital media.
Through hands-on and project-based learning, students progress from the foundations of traditional animation—including flip books, sequential drawing, stop-motion, charcoal animation, clay animation, puppetry, and visual storytelling—to increasingly technology-supported methods of creating and producing animated work.
